Strict regulatory obligations for all campsites
As PA-type establishments open to the public (ERP), campsites are subject to strict rules to guarantee the safety of those accommodated in the face of fire risks. These requirements are particularly important in high-risk zones, such as forested areas or Mediterranean regions.
A mandatory fire hydrant within 200 meters
According to SDIS regulations and DECI (Défense Extérieure Contre l'Incendie) (External Fire Protection) requirements, a fire hydrant must generally be located within 200 meters of any facility to be protected.
As a result, every campsite pitch or reception area should be within 200 meters of a fire-fighting water point, according to DECI regulations. This water point must guarantee a minimum flow of 60 m³/h for two hours and remain accessible at all times for firefighting vehicles.
What types of water points are accepted ?
The SDIS (Services Départementaux d'Incendie et de Secours) accept two main categories of fire water points :
Natural developed water points : such as a river, pond or puddle, provided they are accessible, offer sufficient flow and remain operational all year round.
Artificial reserves : in particular flexible tanks, overhead or underground. Flexible tanks are expressly recognized as compliant solutions in the DECI Technical Guide.
The flexible tank : a simple, fast and compliant solution
In many campsites, particularly those not connected to the drinking water network, the flexible tank appears to be the most flexible and economical solution for complying with DECI obligations. It is also easier and quicker to install than rigid solutions.
A response in line with regulations
CITERNEO flexible tanks are designed to meet the requirements of the SDIS. They offer a volume that can be mobilized immediately (120 m³, 240 m³, 300 m³ or more depending on requirements).
Flexible tanks are delivered with poles or valves fitted with rotating fittings - an innovative system developed by CITERNEO to guarantee fast, simple and secure connection by DECI professionals, and thus save precious time when responding to emergencies.
A strategic choice for the peace of mind of operators and campers
The presence of a compliant fire reserve is a major asset in the event of an incident : it can condition insurance cover. Non-compliance or the absence of a water point can lead to a refusal of compensation or an increased deductible.
Beyond the regulatory aspects, a suitable installation enhances the manager's seriousness and reassures campers, who are concerned about their safety.
Fast, no-holds-barred installation
No building permit required
Installed in a few hours on a flat platform
Low maintenance and excellent durability
Recreational investment, sometimes eligible for local aid
In summary
All campsites must comply with clear fire safety obligations, including the presence of a water point meeting DECI standards. Easy to install, economical and recognized by the authorities, the flexible tank is an ideal solution for meeting requirements while guaranteeing the safety of people and the long-term future of the business.
